Carrick on Shannon located in the Upper Shannon Region in Co Leitrim is a major angling centre which is very well serviced with quality and specialist accommodation and tackle stores.

This is a very extensive coarse angling area with an abundance of fishing hotspots available both on the main River Shannon and the many lakes in the system. The Shannon Regional Fisheries Board has angling structures on many of these waters to facilitate anglers,  including some wheelchair friendly access and facilities.  Certain waters are on private land and we ask you to seek permission to access these fisheries. The area is very well serviced and caters well for visiting anglers with specialist accommodation providers and tackle shops etc. 

Tarmonbarry is located on the Upper Shannon.  The river forms the boundary between Co Roscommon and Co. Longford see thumbnail map top right. It lies about 5 miles to the west of Longford town and about 85 miles from Dublin, to the east. 

There are a number of fishing venues situated around the centre. The main Shannon runs adjacent to Tarmonbarry village with swims located upstream and downstream of the bridge. There is also the Camlin River to the east and the Feorish River to the west.

Lanesboro is located on the main River Shannon at the northern end of Lough Ree in Co Longford. It is about 135 kms approx from Dublin and 15 kms from Longford Town.

This is a renowned Angling Centre where you will find all supporting services including Accommodation, Advice is always readily available locally. This is an ideal base for the Pike angler interested in fishing Lough Ree where you can catch Pike up to 20lbs +. Lanesboro offers excellent facilities for the Coarse Angler. There are six venues from which to choose - The renowned Hot Water Stretch, The New Cut and Kilnacarrow and two lakes near Longford town, Clooncose and Lough Sallagh.
